Description

A big, fast SSD and a genuine Intel Core i7 rarely come cheap in a small form factor build — this custom RGB gaming PC pairs both with a dedicated NVIDIA graphics card inside a compact Dell OptiPlex chassis, giving you serious storage headroom and strong multitasking power without the desk footprint of a full tower.

Key Features

  • Intel Core i7-6700 processor (3.40GHz) — a quad-core CPU with Hyper-Threading, giving eight processing threads for genuinely strong multitasking, background app handling, and CPU-heavy workloads alongside gaming.
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 2GB dedicated graphics — real dedicated video memory and processing, capable of genuine (if entry-level) gaming rather than relying on integrated graphics.
  • Custom RGB lighting — RGB fans and lighting have been fitted during the build, giving this compact OptiPlex real gaming-PC visual presence.
  • Massive 1TB SSD — a full terabyte of solid-state storage, enough to install a large game library, media collection, and software suite without constantly managing space, all at SSD speeds throughout.
  • 16GB DDR3 memory — generous headroom for multitasking, background apps, and modern games.
  • Small form factor (SFF) chassis — a genuinely compact case, easy to place on a desk or in a media unit without the bulk of a full tower.
  • Windows 10 Pro pre-installed — genuine, activated, business-grade Windows out of the box.

Compact Build, Real Storage, Honest Gaming

The standout spec here is the 1TB SSD — a genuinely large amount of fast storage that’s unusual to see at this price point, especially inside a small form factor case. Where a lot of budget and mid-range builds force you to juggle a small drive and constantly uninstall games, this one lets your library grow without the drive filling up, and every file on it benefits from SSD speed rather than a mechanical drive slowing things down.

On graphics, the GT 1030 is an entry-level card, and we’d rather be upfront about that than oversell it: it’s built for esports and lighter titles rather than maxed-out AAA settings. Expect smooth, high frame-rate performance in games like CS2, Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Fortnite at 1080p low-to-medium settings, plus comfortable performance in older or less demanding titles. The i7-6700’s eight threads mean this build also handles background apps, Discord, browser tabs, and general multitasking noticeably better than a quad-core-only i5 equivalent, which matters if you regularly have more than just the game running.

Fitting all of this into a small form factor case rather than a full tower is a genuine practical advantage for anyone short on desk space — you get commercial-grade Dell reliability, a properly capable processor, huge fast storage, and an RGB gaming look, without needing to find room for a full-size tower. As with every unit we sell, it’s been professionally tested before listing.

To put the 1TB figure in perspective, many current AAA titles now individually take up 60–100GB or more once installed, so a 256GB drive can genuinely be exhausted by just three or four modern games. A full terabyte removes that constraint almost entirely for most players, meaning your library, launchers, and Windows updates can all coexist comfortably without the constant install-uninstall cycle smaller drives force on you. If you’d prefer the extra airflow and interior space of a full-size tower instead of this SFF build, our full-size OptiPlex gaming builds carry the same core specification in a larger chassis.

Every SFF gaming rebuild we complete, this one included, goes through the same multi-stage check before listing: POST and memory testing, storage health verification on the full 1TB drive, GPU stability under sustained load, and confirmation that the RGB kit is correctly wired and functioning. You’re not buying an assumption of working hardware — you’re buying a machine that’s already proven it works.

5 reviews for Custom Built RGB Gaming PC – Dell OptiPlex SFF (Intel i7-6700, GT 1030, 1TB)

  1. Aaron P.

Great value SFF build. The i7-6700 still holds up well for everyday tasks and light gaming, and the RGB looks genuinely good in person, better than I expected from the photos.

  2. Craig S.

Really happy with this one. Fast boot thanks to the 1TB SSD, quiet fans even under load, and good build quality for a refurbished unit. Would recommend.

  3. Dominic W.

The 1TB SSD is a great inclusion, so much room compared to what I’m used to. The i7 handles multitasking really well and the GT 1030 is fine for esports and older games at 1080p.

  4. Georgia N.

Nice little SFF build, RGB looks good sat on the desk. GPU is entry level so newer AAA titles need the lowest settings to run smoothly, but it’s great for Valorant and similar lighter games.

  5. Millie H.

PC performs as described but there was a small dent on the top panel when it arrived, doesn’t affect use at all. The GT 1030 definitely shows its limits in modern games, fine for older stuff though.
